Formation of the “Gas Core” Completed at Turkestan CCGT Power Plant

The installation of the fourth Siemens Energy gas turbine has been completed in the main building of the Turkestan CCGT Power Plant. The unit has been mounted on temporary supports within Block No. 2 of the main building.

This stage marked the final milestone in the installation of the plant’s core gas turbine equipment. The successful installation was preceded by a complex logistical operation, highlighting the global scale of the project. The ultra-heavy equipment traveled a distance of approximately 15,000 kilometers. The gas turbine’s journey began at the Port of Hamburg (Germany).

Given the cargo’s dimensions and modern logistical challenges, the route passed by sea around the African continent and, after crossing Southeast Asia, the vessel arrived at the eastern Chinese port of Tianjin. From there, the gas turbine was transported by road across the entire territory of China and delivered to Kazakhstan, directly to the construction site in the Sairam District of the Turkestan Region. The rest of the key equipment followed a similar route.

The installation process in the main building was carried out under conditions of heightened responsibility. The assembly of the unit took place under the close supervision of an international team of experts. The engineering team included representatives of Siemens Energy (installation supervision and technical supervision); Doosan Enerbility (general contractor); and Integra Construction KZ (construction partner).

Engineers note that precise positioning of the turbine is a key factor ensuring its long-term and stable operation.

The completion of the station’s “gas core” formation brings the project closer to its final goal — the commissioning of capacities that will fully cover the electricity deficit in the southern regions of Kazakhstan. The project, implemented by Turkestan CCGT LLP on the instruction of the Head of State, will provide flexible generation necessary for the stability of the country’s entire energy system.
