The first gas turbine was installed in the main building of the Turkestan Combined Cycle Power Plant.

The first gas turbine was installed at the construction site of the 1,000 MW combined cycle power plant in the main building of the Turkestan Combined Cycle Power Plant.

The transfer of the unit, weighing approximately 200 tons, was carried out using a 600-ton heavy crane – one of the most powerful pieces of lifting equipment currently operating in the Turkestan region.

"This work is considered highly dangerous: the turbine weighs approximately 200 tons. Therefore, precise engineering calculations are used—crane parameters, boom reach, and lifting capacity. All operations are organized and carried out in accordance with the work execution plan," noted Nurken Beken, Lead Mechanical Engineer of the Construction Supervision Department at PGU Turkestan LLP.

The turbine was delivered from the warehouse to the site on a self-propelled modular platform. The equipment was then lifted using a 600-ton crane. The turbine was hoisted over the roof's metal structures and installed in the main building of the combined cycle gas turbine.

The use of unique assembly equipment—a 600-ton crane and a self-propelled cargo platform—allows for safe handling of large-tonnage components and complex maneuvers within the confined space of the metal structure.

"The turbine relocation proceeded as planned, strictly in accordance with the work plan we developed jointly with specialists from Integra Construction KZ and Sarens. There were no incidents," said Serzhan Kamzin, lead mechanical engineer at Doosan Enerbility.

Final preparation of the gas turbine foundation and its installation are carried out with the direct participation of representatives from the manufacturer, Siemens Energy (Germany). The presence of international technicians reduces risks and improves the quality of equipment assembly at the early stages.

At this stage, the gas turbine is installed on temporary mounting supports. The main alignment, leveling, and calibration work will be performed later, during the final installation of the unit on its permanent supports, in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements and design documentation.

"Siemens Energy representatives inspected the foundations and issued recommendations. After their implementation, permission for installation was received," said Akan Ashirbekov, Deputy Executive Director for Construction at the Combined Cycle Power Plant Construction Directorate of Integra Construction KZ.

The installation of the first gas turbine in the main building marks the beginning of the next phase of the project, transitioning from concrete and steel structures to the installation of the power unit. The remaining technological equipment for the power plant will be installed according to a similar plan.

As a reminder, Turkestan PGU LLP is implementing a project to build a 100 MW combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant in the Turkestan region. Construction, equipment logistics, and installation are being handled by a consortium consisting of
Doosan Enerbility, Integra Construction KZ LLP, and BCN Group LLP. The project's primary goal is to strengthen the region's energy independence and energy security and create jobs for the region's residents.
