The construction of a ballast layer is being installed on the Kazybek Bek — Sorbulak section under the railway construction project bypassing Almaty. The sand-gravel mixture is delivered by 35 hopper-batcher wagons.
To date, the following has been accomplished in the construction and installation work of the project:
- 92% of the roadbed has been completed;
- 53 out of 56 culverts have been installed;
- 18 of the 19 bridges and overpasses are in operation, spans and supports are being installed on two of them;
- 16.7 km of rail and sleeper grid have been laid (from Zhetygen station - 6.4 km, from Kazybek Bek station - 10.3 km);
260 pieces of equipment and 442 specialists are involved in the construction.
The "Almaty Bypass" project provides for the construction of 130 km of railway tracks, of which 75 km are the main ones, 55 km are station ones. It is also planned to build three separate points (Sorbulak, Moyinkum, Zhana-Arka) and 13 bridges, including 5 railway and 1 automobile overpass.
